A recent highlight for Studio Gestalt in collaboration with Altis Architecture was our hospitality design venue District 8 featured on channel 9 for the Celebrity Apprentice Yum Cha challenge!
District 8, at Cabra-Vale Diggers Club provided the backdrop for a high intensity cook-off between team Fun-Raisers and team Momentum. The show captured both the theatre of the dining area with the enchanting ‘lucky golden basket’ and the drama also played out in the back of house set-up where head chef Martha delivered the restaurant quality cuisine.
A unique dining concept
Cabra-Vale Diggers sports some amazing dining venues, and District 8 by Studio Gestalt showcases modern Asian interior design. Aesthetically awe inspiring and functional, the large venue enchanting customers in with it’s one-of-a-kind unique décor. The venue offers multiple food & beverage options across several hawker inspired food ‘stations’. Diners are able to experience a culinary journey through South East Asia in a stunning and comfortable environment.
Taking inspiration from Asia’s many ‘Eat Streets’, the space offers customers a sharable moment with their food and a sense of adventure and escape - one that we are unable to currently experience due to our closed borders.
District 8 brings taste, smells, sights & sound together for a magical food experience. Make sure to drop by and try some of their signature dishes.
About the restaurant interior design
Hospitality design is theatre! A sensory experience to entice people to gather and share time and great design supports these moments.
Key aspects include:
Intimate seating zones and spaces for groups, private dining areas and all catered to.
The formation of mini ‘streets’ were core to the concept, this enables diners to wander and enjoy the space from several view points whilst letting their taste buds make the key decisions!
The layered zones unfold to lead through to the fine dining precinct this is the ‘pinnacle’ of the journey and diners can experience District 8 differently each time they visit, for anything from a yum cha breakfast through to a special occasion
Functionality around fresh cook mini-kitchens at the food stations and a centralised prep kitchen were carefully designed in.
Space planning and flow for both users and service requirements were prioritised throughout the design process.
